I guess I've been kinda all over the place, but a lot of you will already know pretty much what's been up.  Here's the recap:

• March- 3 weeks in France, got the beat down at 3 UCI road races there
• April- froze my nuts off training in NY, then froze them again at Mosport.  Crashed my bike at Tour of Virginia
• May- stuck around qc, won a TT but generally got slower.
  
• June-  CSC, Lancaster, Reading (in the car) and Philly.  I sucked in all of them, but pulled a top 10 in the Beauce TT
• July- 10th at road nationals, 5th at TT nats.  crashed in Lachine, and again in Toona but pulled a nice stage there.

August will bring more Lachines, the Tour of Elk Grove, MTL-QC and some really good prep for cross season.

2007 is off to a roaring start. I’ve already achieved one of my goals for this year – I found a good pair of jeans.

Tara, Kyle and I had an off day today and went into Leuven to go shopping. I wasn’t really expecting to buy anything, but as the number one rule of shopping goes – if you find something you like and it fits, buy it. If it’s on sale, you’re stupid not to. I found a lot. Including a pair of really hot jeans. Words do not suffice.

The Scheldecross yesterday was another on/off affair. Once again I felt like I had a really great steady-state engine, but no punch. I really need to get my shit together and find that speed again, and fast. The race was a super-muddy affair and gave me a chance to work on my peanut butter skills, which is something I haven’t been practicing much this year since it’s been mainly a dry season. And for those of you unfamiliar with Belgian mud, it’s a very unique experience. I was struggling to stay in the race after the first two laps, as I kept losing contact with my group and I was feeling some pain in my knee (just looking for excuses there…). At some point I made the decision to suck it up and keep at it, mostly for myself, but also for my mechanics Sergio and Kristoph who were totally pumped to be wrenching for me and who would have been so completely bummed if I’d packed. I’m glad I stuck it out, even though I couldn’t hold off a late-race charge by two guys who came out of nowhere. Hey, I beat the local Tielt-Winge pro, so it’s not all bad!

Next stop is France this weekend for the World Cup.

New shoes = so hot.
